Pendulums have become increasingly popular in the last couple of decades. People have used pendulums for
dowsing for water, and the ever popular dowsing for spiritual energy.
Christiaan Huygens (1629-1695) a Dutch scientist soon after derived the relationship of the period T of
a simple pendulum to its length l as eminent.
Galileo used water flowing from a container to measure time. His unit of time was a TEMPO. He investigated
the motion of a pendulum during intervals of time. And he considered the relationship between time for
pendulum motion and time for free fall motion.
Using the pendulum
A pendulum is simply a weighted object suspended from a string or chain. It is used as a form of divination
to answer simple yes/no questions from your subconscious mind. The pendulum is not designed to predict the
future, because future events are not set in stone, the future is determined by people's free will. It is
only possible to predict the future to know what future choices are most likely. A Pendulum can help you
select among choices you are already aware of.
Use a pendulum to develop awareness, perception and intuition. These skills of consciousness are within
reach of us all and only need to be brought out from within us. The pendulum is only one way that these
areas of our minds can be developed.
The pendulum is used as a link of communication with the subconscious mind to uncover information that you
may have forgotten or never knew. The pendulum then becomes a direct link to your unconscious. And the
unconscious is where thoughts and memories are stored that your conscious is unaware of. The pendulum is a
means of connecting with those hidden truths and memories. It could be said that it strengthens or amplifies
the intuition because it converts the subtleties of the intuition into a more obvious form of physical motion.
When you ask a question of the pendulum, it is your own intuition that answers it. The pendulum merely allows
you to physically see what the intuition already knows. This tool can be as serious as you make it. What
makes it work? Tiny muscles in your finger tips are connected to the motor centers of the brain and it is
these motor centers that are affected by unconscious thoughts. Your unconscious thoughts cause the tiny
muscles in your fingers to react and thus move the pendulum.
The pendulum can give you information from your own subconscious mind; your guides, spirits, or guardian
angels.
Uses of A Pendulum:
The pendulum can be used for choosing between alternatives in a relatively wide range of areas. Here are
some typical areas where the pendulum can be used to good advantage:
Making a Choice of any kind. (Do I want to travel for my vacation or stay home?)
Figuring out what is best to do. (Would it be better to keep my present job or look for a new job?)
Figuring out how you really feel about something. (Do I want children in the near future?)
Becoming more conscious of who someone is inside, to know his motivation, his compatibility with you.
Determining your probability of success in a situation. (Do I have what it takes to complete this course?)
Finding the cause of physical symptoms. (Is my diet causing my migraines?)
Determining what foods or vitamins to take. (Would it be good for me to double my Vitamin C intake?)
Determining what is causing an allergic reaction. phobic reactions (Am I lactose intolerant?)
Prospecting for water, oil, treasure. (Is there gold over here?)
Finding missing people or pets, or lost objects. (Is my key under the bed?)
Determine romantic compatibility.
Determine reasons for illnesses.
have fun picking lottery numbers, winners at the track.
metaphysical and so on.
Starting to Use your Pendulum!
I have two charts for you to save and print out to use with your pendulum.
How I use these charts is, I hold the pendulum over the bottom center point.
I ask the pendulum to search. Like in the yes/no chart, it will swing forward
and back.
Ask your question.
Once it begins to swing, it will either go clockwise,
or counterclockwise, but this, depending on how you attune to your pendulum, swinging
right sometimes can mean yes, left for no. BUT wait for the weight to settle, because
it can also swing heavier towards the yes/no answer. You will find how it works best for
you by the way it answers the obvious yes/no questions you will ask to test it.
You can also make a pendulum by using rings, keys, bolts, nuts, plum bobs, etc.

Part of the knowledge that comes with experience in working with the pendulum is learning to sometimes
start with broad questions, and then narrow them down.
Avoid starting with basic communication. Begin by asking, is my name "_________?" Or, Do I have a sister?"
Make sure each question is clearly stated in your mind. As you direct the question to the subconscious,
avoid consciously thinking the answer, i.e. let your mind be blank.
Once you are comfortable with your pendulum and feel confident, you are ready to start exploring your
subconscious for self truths. You can then begin to use it for finding answers the consciousness does not
know.
Receiving Incorrect Responses from your Pendulum:
It is appropriate to ask a pendulum about things that are within your control, about situations where you
have the right to make a choice, or about things your subconscious already has access to. Things that can
Cause an Incorrect Response from the Pendulum:
Poor communication - (Inaccurate phrasing) The most important thing is how you phrase the question. Be
specific don’t generalize.
Being tired -Forcing the situation. Using the pendulum even though the time or circumstances may not be
right.
Being off Center - Feeling mentally or emotionally out of balance. You need to be in the right frame of
mind.
Focusing too heavily on the pendulum itself, and not enough on the information inside you.
Being too close to high frequency electrical equipment (operate at least 3 ft from a TV or computer screen).
Connecting to Your Higher Self
You only want to work with your Higher Self. Any of your guides, spirits and angels can go through your
Higher Self. Start by speaking to your spirits either aloud of in your head. Use something like this:
Thank your Guides and Spirits for coming to assist you, ask them to surround you in pure white light and
allow no negative thoughts or harmful forces to enter.
Hold your Pendulum and ask:
1. Am I working with my Higher Self?
2. Am I grounded, focused, balanced and 100% of sound mind and body?
(If you receive a NO response to either of these questions ask you Higher Self to clear the blocks hindering you.)
3. Ask that your vibrational energy be raised to the highest level (to protect from negative energies.)
Each person subconsciously knows everything that is going on inside his body. This includes not only the
physical things that are going on in the body, but also the mental, emotional and spiritual things. The
body knows what vitamins it is deficient in, what diseases it has, and why it has those diseases. The body
knows whether a product he is holding in his hand is toxic, allergenic, or useful and beneficial. It knows
why it feels afraid under certain circumstances, and it knows what it needs to work on in order to grow
spiritually. All this subconscious information can be made available to the conscious mind by learning to
tune in to it with the aid of the pendulum.
Doing Pendulum Readings for Others:
Until you have had a lot of experience with the pendulum, do NOT try to use it to get information for
someone else. So don't do pendulum readings. Instead, make it a personal tool for yourself.
Important Things to Remember:
Always keep your sights on the fact that you are the pendulum, that your subconscious mind is really
providing the answers, avoid making the tool more important than the consciousness behind it.
Keep your pendulum in a safe and special place to help maintain your vibration on, in and through the
pendulum.
It is better if you don't allow other people to handle your pendulum. You want to keep it as much in tune
with your vibration as possible. (If you do let other people handle your pendulum, the worst that can
happen is that you may have to re-establish the yes/no response.)
The number one reason for inaccurate pendulum reading is vague and faulty wording of the question.
The number two reason is your psychological state, the thoughts, emotions, feelings, images, desires,
hope, wishes, etc. that vibrate in and through your psyche. These things can influence the answer.
The third source of pendulum inaccuracy is lack of patience. Approach the pendulum one day at a time.
Watch, wait, see and try again.
Inaccuracy occurs when there is lack of concentration. Practice focusing on the questions until you are
able to concentrate and hold your attention steady during the time you are working with your pendulum.
In the beginning there is a tendency to consult the pendulum every time you have to make a decision. At that point the pendulum stops being a tool for cultivating intuitive perception and starts becoming a mental-emotional-spiritual crutch. Do not depend on it to the exclusion of your own common sense.
