Some History on the board and its uses

Though there is no definite proof the Ouiji Board was in existence during the Middle Ages, but its ideas go back to TheDarkAges, and further. There is little doubt about that.

Spiritualists in Europe were fascinated with various aspects of the spirit world in the 1800's. In 1853, M.Planchett, a French spiriualist, invented the 'Planchette.'

This was a small heart-shaped table with three legs one of which was a lead pencil. The one operating it placed their hands on the table top. When it was effective, the table moved over... a piece of paper and wrote messages!

Where did these messages come from? From ghosts? From the dead? From spirits? From evil spirits? From trapped-on-earth spirits? This has been much debated over the years.

The Encylopedia of Psychic Science records that an instrument similar to the Ouiji Board was used by Pythagoras in 540 B.C. Pythagoras was quite a man... a scholar interested in all nature and spirit. This magic writing thing goes way back.

In 1889 William Fuid claimed to invent the Ouiji Board, patenting it in 1892. He was from Baltimore, Maryland. The patents were purchased in 1966 by The Parker Brothers of Salem, Massachussetts. By 1967, the 'game' was very popular... but it was not long before many people thought the Ouiji Board was dangerous!

However, many people look at it as a game, just a game...

What is a Ouiji Board?

It is a plain board of masonite with a paper top. On the top is the alphabet. Printed on the board are the words YES and No, and GOODBYE. The message indicator is a small 3-legged plastic heart with a little see-through section. The legs are short and felt-tipped for easy movement.

Two people use a Ouiji Board. (Other people may be in room quietly)... They sit across from each other and lightly place their fingers on the message indicator. One asks a question... the heart begins to move...it moves from letter to letter...spelling out sentences, messages...or, it may move to 'Yes' or 'No.' When it is finished answering a question, it moves to 'Goodbye.'

Of course, Parker Brothers offers no explanation for how the Ouiji Board works. A brochure they once published says the messages may originate in the conscious or subconscious mind to contact spirits of the dead or evil spirits. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

It has been reported over the years that some messages from the Ouiji Board go beyond the conscious or unconscious, and are strange indeed. There have been cases where Possession of a user has been reported after using the Ouiji Board over a period of time.

Can the Ouiji Board cause a person to lose their will, surrender it to the spirits found in the OB??

Various phychiatrists, medical doctors, clergymen, psychologists and theologians have written essays and articles warning people about using the Ouiji Board.

My own experience with a Ouiji Board is limited. I did fool around with one for a while. It told me the spirit that was speaking to us was named Daniel, and that he lived still in our house. He said he was not an evil spirit, that he was lonely. He said he was very lonely and alone.

Daniel answered questions we asked him quite freely, even cursing sometimes when aggravated, when we asked silly questions. He would often say 'Goodbye' and refuse to 'speak' at all. During these times, the message indicator would go around and around in tireless circles, tiring our wrists.

Still....he told us lots of interesting, fascinating things!

A few years later when I was living at another house in another state, playing with the same Ouiji Board, Daniel was gone. When I asked who was speaking, my answer was, "I will not tell you." When I asked please tell me, the answer was, "You do not need to know that." This Answerer was extremely polite, and had a very large vocabulary... certainly not one I could spell!

For myself, I believe strongly in the Spirit World. However, I do not believe communication with Spirits happens often if at all. Certainly if it happens, it is difficult. Some people may be more psychic... but I would not trust a medium easily. People who claim these things are often just trying to make money or get attention. Still, the idea always fascinates.

The conscious and the subconscious are powerful, and I believe the unconscious is strongest of all. We do not consciously know what our unconscious knows or divines, how the spirit works... we are not sure where the spirit lives in us, exactly what its function is. Is the unconscious the spirit? Perhaps, perhaps not at all. These things are mysteries and probably always will be mysteries.

The Ouiji Board like the Tarot Cards and Runes are 'tools' some in the 'Occult' use in their whatevers... For others, these are curious things. But these things are not of the Devil or Evil, Beloved, unless we MAKE THEM so. We need to remember these are all man-made things, and not over-dramatize... get too involved in the World of the Spirit.

The future however well it may be predicted, cannot be foretold that we know of... And though some believe spirits can reach us, the proof for that is on shaky grounds. Spirits certainly do not seem to 'reach' us readily... Maybe they don't want to, maybe they cannot. This is a mystery.

Houdini, for example, promised his mother he would get in touch with her if there was any way, any way at all. And he never spoke to her she reported.

Still, how we often long to speak to those we've loved so dearly... how we long to talk to ghosts, those who have passed!

The truth is we are often at loggerheads with God and how he does things, runs things, operates... Still, it is wise to love God and trust Him. God is very strong, and owns the Universe.

Best Time to Use Quiji Board: Evening or Night Best Room: Quiet Room, no outside noises

Who??? Choose your Partner carefully...it's really no at all if somebody pushes the Indicator around!!!

Do I need to tell you to be RESPECTFUL????

Be respectful. I've never heard of a respectful person having a 'bad' Quiji Board experience.

Environmental Aides? Why not...burn some Incense or Candles...use a Mood Lamp. Don't have it so dark you cannot see though.

Should you try to contact a real person you know who is dead? Someone you love? Do this very respectfully. I do not think this will work...but you might try... I would not run with this though.

There is no place on the Ouiji Board itself to address a specific spirit...You address your Unknown with speech. Speak quietly.

Should you try to contact a 'real' person who has been famous...such as George Washington... Jesus...Alice Paul...Saint Augustine???? Your best possibility is to accept what comes to you. If you do not care for the 'spirit' who answers you, ask it...him...her...if there is someone else you can talk to. For instance, you might prefer a female to a male spirit.

Please do not try to contact 'Satan'... THAT IS REALLY PRANKING AROUND and... is NOT funny,Beloved. One way or another, what we seek, we tend to find: Whatever rises must come down, however... As Donne said so well:

Ask not for whom the bell tolls... It tolls for thee.

As I told you, there have been some reports that some people have become very emotionally disturbed when using a Ouiji Board foolishly. Do not be foolish...it's such a waste of everyone's time.

Good Luck, and PLEASE be Safe!
